Here's one of the few photos I haven taken with Ilford HP-5 film shown here as a precursor to my comments on a recent Michael Zhang article I happened to run across on petapixel.com, "Ilford Launches New Disposable Cameras Loaded With Its Black-and-White Film."
Check out the link (below) for the article which points out among other things that digital photography has never been able to satisfy lovers of true black & white photography and that the disposable camera market is apparently still a profitable one. Ilford is capitalizing on those two industry trends by introducing two new black & white disposables. One loaded with their excellent HP-5 film and the other loaded with a film using the C-41 chromogenic process allowing it to be developed at any of the color mini-labs that still exist in local camera stores or even drug stores.

I believe the ongoing love affair with black & white film
photography and the fascination with toy cameras are major contributors
to the continuance and even growth of the film photography market. Ilford is wisely banking on both to continue and frankly, the only reason I have not used more HP-5 is that I personally prefer Kodak's Tri-x. Considering their optimistic investment in the future of film I may buy some more of their fine film just to support and applaud their efforts.
